I think this is the first time in the series someone has been able to deal real damage to her. It's about time. But being surprised at Elise being a paladin when he kidnapped her in book 1 for being a paladin... if that's not a mistranslation, he gets minus points.
Elise has grown, being able to fight a lycanthrope without cowering. But that raises the question-- how are all the girls able to withstand his curse power when Melida's the only one with training on it?
Watching Melida steadily adopt Kufa's techniques gives me life.
