The Wise Man's Grandson Volume 2 Prologue

Prologue

In the history of humanity, only a single demon had ever been confirmed—until two appeared in a short span of time. Worse still, one of these demons retained complete rationality. As a former high-ranking magician, if left unchecked, this demon could have driven humanity to the brink of extinction.

But that did not come to pass.

Merlin Wolford, the hero who once vanquished a demon, had a grandson named Shin Wolford. This young man single-handedly defeated both newly emerged demons.

Furthermore, through the testimony of the third demon, Oliver Schtrom, it was revealed that the second demon, Kurt von Ritzburg, was a victim of Schtrom’s human experiments, transformed into a demon against his will rather than by his own choice.

The Ritzburg family, having produced a demon from their own kin, was tormented by guilt. However, those around them viewed the family with sympathy, seeing them as a tragic household that had lost their heir to horrific experimentation.

The kingdom issued no formal punishment. Still, the fact remained that the earl had failed to notice his son’s transformation, and so he voluntarily resigned from his position as deputy director of the capital’s financial bureau, choosing to return to his family’s domain.

This act garnered further sympathy. Though the Ritzburg family still had two young sons, several nobles pledged their support until the boys came of age.

The mastermind behind this turmoil was Oliver Schtrom, and all blame fell upon him. With Schtrom himself vanquished, the matter was closed as a case of “suspect deceased.”

Shin Wolford, who had prevented a crisis that threatened humanity’s very survival, was already being hailed among the people of the Earlshide Kingdom as a new hero who had saved the world.

And as for the man himself…
