ReplyDeleteMany authors tried the detective light novel formula after the undeserved success of the detective is already dead, which isn't even a detective light novel and led many authors astray.
This is definitely one of the better ones, even if the mysteries in the first volume where definitely underwhelming despite the premises (I cannot spoil it but I wouldn't consider them mysteries).
If you are interested in a good detective story, I suggest you take a look at "Great Detective from Another World". It would be great if you picked up its tranlsation too in case you like it.
Just be careful with the pronouns, details are important in detective novels and determining genders and who is talking is necessary.
In the first volume there was a bit of confusion between male and female pronouns. I suppose you are using AI for the translation too, so you should have the option to choose the gender for each character at the start of the tranlsation to keep it consistent, that should help.

Completely agree that The Detective is Already Dead is not a real detective story. It was just a chaotic mashup.
